Six weeks later at my appointment, I was told by the doctor that they have had a huge problem with patients both canceling and not showing up for appointments - so I should understand how much of an inconvenience it is for them when I don't call and don't show. If they have such an issue with cancelled appointments, and if I was actually put on the cancelation list, why did I still have to wait six whole weeks to get in?
I just had surgery on my ankle and my experience was awesome. Dr cicoria is the best orthopedic surgeon in the tri county area. The nurses at the hospital were wonderful they were able to get my pain under control very fast. They were so patient with me.
Donna, who was the office staff member that treated me so badly previously, was the one that answered the phone when I called. She was very rude again, and told me she'd have to call me back to schedule another appointment.
I have never loved a Doctor or his assistant more than I do Dr. Cicoria & Mellissa. The staff is ALWAYS Awesome! He did a Total Knee Replacement for me & in that knee I have been pain free ever since. I don't know why others have a had a problem here but for me I will go no place else.
It should never happen that you are punished for missing an appointment. It is one thing if you chronically do so, but not for your first missed appointment. Further, this is a problem in all doctors offices - it's because life happens. And if you want your patients to show up, you should probably try and give them the correct date and time for their appointments, and do like other offices do, and give them a call to remind them of their appointments. Lastly, you should never be treated as rudely and poorly as I was by a doctor's office. What doctors seem to forget is that they work for their patients, not the other way around. I for one am tired of being treated like they're doing me a favor by seeing me in the first place, when it's me doing them a favor by choosing to entrust them with my healthcare. As for Dr. Cicoria and the others at his office, I'm choosing to take my business elsewhere ...
I very rarely write a review, but usually because my experience was extremely positive or extremely negative. Unfortunately in this case it was the latter.
Luckily the MRI office was able to get me in later in the day, but only after I missed that appointment. My follow up appointment with the doctor was also incorrect and actually two days earlier than the date I was given. Because I also never received a reminder call (no message, no missed call on caller ID) for that appointment, I missed it. I called the day after the actual appointment wanting to be proactive and make sure I was all set for when I was told my appointment was the next day - only to find out I missed it, and was treated rudely again for doing so.
The doctor I saw, Melissa, was very nice, however the office staff there is very rude and both office staff and nurses border on complete incompetence. I was punished by Donna - one of the office staff - after missing one appointment (read below for my explanation of why). I was given incorrect dates and times for both an MRI and a follow-up appointment at the office by one of the nurses there.
It's completely unacceptable to be treated in such a way. The first appointment I missed was a follow up after breaking my ankle. Unfortunately three weeks later my wife had to have major surgery 5 hours away in Boston. We were there for almost a month because of complications, and while we were there I missed my appointment at Dr. Cicoria's office with Melissa. Upon returning home, a couple weeks later I re-injured my ankle and called the office to setup an appointment. I knew I had missed and forgotten to call to cancel my previous appointment, but I never thought I would be punished for doing so. When I called, Donna obnoxiously explained that "since you couldn't bother to call and cancel your last appointment, there's no way you're going to get in for at least 6 weeks." I asked to be put on the cancelation list, because I really thought my ankle was re-injured, and she reluctantly said she would.
